THROWBACKS LOSE TO AUGUSTA 119 - 105

02/22/2009 6:03 PM - Augusta, GA— Demitrius Howard, Donielle Davis and Cory Sims combined for 67 points and 24 rebounds to lead Augusta to a 119-105 victory over Chicago. The loss by Chicago ends a three game winning streak for the Throwbacks.
 
Augusta lead by seven at the half and were tied at the end of three quarters of play before pulling away at the end going on a 9-2 run to take a 13 point lead. Augusta would hit their free throws at the end and come away with a 14 point victory.
 
With the victory, the Groove are now one game behind Vermont for the PBL wild card playoff spot at 7-5. Halifax is 8-7 while Vermont comes in at
8-6 with Wilmington holding the four spot at 9-4. The team with the best record after the division winners is the four seed in the playoffs; they play the fifth seed for the right to play the top seed which is now Battle Creek.
 
For Augusta, Howard had 25, Davis 22 and Sims had 20 points for the Groove who shot 52.5 percent from the field and hit 16-36 from three point range.
 
The Throwbacks were lead by Willie Mitchell with 25 and Dameon Mason with 19. Chicago shot 48.8 percent from the field.
 
Up next for the Groove is a home date against Wilmington next Sunday afternoon. Chicago takes on Manchester on Friday night in Manchester
